Our mission at Serendipity is to provide a high-quality early childhood education for the children and families of Albuquerque.

Every time we teach a child something, we keep him from inventing it himself. That which we allow to discover by himself… will remain with him.

STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

At Serendipity we believe in the value of human diversity and fair treatment of all people.  It is our number one goal to provide the kind of environment and the kinds of influences that encourage children to become creative, independent, responsible, fully functioning and self-directed; learning to make decisions for themselves.  Our second goal is to nurture a peaceful environment and surround the children in our care with understanding, warmth and giving.

The values and beliefs upon which Serendipity’s program is based are deeply rooted in the history of Early Childhood Education and based on our own experience.

We believe all children have the right to feel good about themselves and it is our responsibility to nurture their self-esteem.

We believe our educational and guidance decisions for children must be based on a strong knowledge of early childhood development

We believe each person is a unique individual, has their own needs and has the right to meet those needs in their own way and time.  However, one responsibility of having rights is recognizing the rights of others.

We believe everyone is entitled to feelings, good and bad, as well as the trial and error process that goes with those feelings.  It is important to understand and learn to appropriately manage those feelings, rather than deny them.

We believe that creativity, self-expression and curiosity are expressions of individuality and should be encouraged.

We believe in helping children and adults develop positive relationships by instilling the importance that they be based on trust, communication, respect and understanding.

We believe each child and family deserve respect and personal privacy.
